So much music, so much joy! We have been damn blessed with too many good times to count!!
Like to give a huge shout out to all the amazing guests and events that have been going down lately.
Back on April 1st we had an ESL showcase event that was a crazy fun party at Public Works with our friends Rob Garza (Thievery Corporation), Ancient Astronauts, J.Boogie and our drummers Qique, Diamond, and B.Lee. It was seriously an epic night. Thanks to everyone who came out to support. Last week we had Bachaco from Miami Florida, Oz and the drummers made some folks dance in Oakland at the Together party, and the Pleasure Sessions was a blast at Boom Boom Room on Wednesday.
This week we get back to residents night at Afrolicious. For those of you who have been on one of these nights, you know we don't stop, we just keep the party rolling strong for over 4 hours straight!
We also are gearing up to the end of this month when we celebrate 4 years of Afrolicious every Thursday night at the Elbo Room. It is all thanks to you who love music, dancing, friends, and good times, that have allowed this party to exist and push on week after week. In a city where the night life is a slippery slope and musical fads come and go, we keep the music and dancefloor burning up, and it's all out of love baby! For the 4 year we feature DJ's Smash, Jeremy Sole, and Nappy G. (who will also joint the fun on percussion!.) Thursday is DJ Smash and Nappy G. Friday is Jeremy Sole, and both nights we will bring out the Afrolicious live ensemble complete with horn section, and guests vocalists who have contributed to our upcoming debut release.
Also, Wednesday night we flip the Afrolicious vibe into a live band an original music flavor for the Pleasure Sessions at the Boom Boom Room. A combination of original Pleasuremaker, Billy Magic, & Afrolicious material, plus some rare re-makes done inna Pleasure stylee. This night has been a lot of fun and just a new scene to check out.
