That's right this week we celebrate Three Years of weekly get down, throw your hands up music and dance known as Afrolicious. We have quite a few great friends coming in from near and far to help us celebrate!
Thursday Night April 29th special live guest Aphrodesia play at 11pm! We also have the return of B Lee on percussion and the steady drum of Joel the Monster on kit!
Friday Night April 30th special live guest Chico Mann, plus DJ Sabo and DJ Similak Chyld.
Thursday April 29th Afrolicious featuring hosts and DJ's Pleasuremaker and Señor Oz plus special guests Aphrodesia with their mix up of Afro-Beat, High Life, Funk, Dub, and global pop they always bring a high energy and funktified show to be enjoyed by the dancers. Plus live drums by our man Joel Elrod and a potential mix up of Aphrodesia members w- Afrolicious, this looks to be another bangin' Thursday night.
Friday April 30th we elevate to another level with return guests Chico Mann (NY, Antibalas) and DJ Sabo (NY, Sol Selectas) plus our friend Similakchyld making her debut with the Afrolicious crew. With Pleasuremaker and Señor Oz holding it down this guarantees to be a back to back natural throw down!!!

Damn, it is almost hard to believe that Afrolicious has been going so strong every single week for 3 years at the end of this month. Well not that hard, but it is still something to reflect on, (with a grin and an eye to the future.)
To try and think of all the amazing friends we have met along the way, you wonderful dancers that come through and express yourselves and make the party happen, the vast array of deeply talented musicians, mc's, bands, dj's, and vocalists, that have brought their flavor to the stage, and of course all the funky, soulful, beat driven music that gets played week in and week out, it's a bit of a whirlwind to try and take it all in. I can only imagine what it will be like three years from now!
As always been busy with gigs and music production lately, so we have not been back here for a second. Ideally we will keep a more steady flow going on here. Highlights include a trip down to Los Angeles to guest at Afrofunke, a trip to Austin, TX to mix it up with the Wax Poetics, Fania, Dub Spot, and Soul of the Boot folks @ SXSW with good friends, Chico Mann, Ocote Soul Sounds, Obah, J.Boogie, Ancient Astronauts, Chorizo Funk, and more. Incredible act Delhi 2 Dublin made a guest appearance @ Afrolicious, Earthrise Soundsystem, and incredible live musicians J.Elrod, Enrique Padilla, Baba Duru, Will Magid, Iggy Mon, Krown Prince, and more.
With amazing guests and the springtime bubbling up Afrolicious has had some of the busiest and most fun nights of the last three years lately. That says a lot considering how ridiculously fun we have, you have, everyone haves on Thursday nights @ the Elbo Room. And it is this joy that trumps even the world tours, fancy cars, celebrity cocktail parties we attend, and overall high life we enjoy because of Afrolicious, (guys I'm being a little sarcastic here). But the joy of the people is really what we do this for, and of course the joy we get from rocking with you guys. Truly blessed to be in such a wonderful city with such amazing folks from around the globe, dropping in on the weekly to dance, hug, drink, chat, smoke, dance, love, smile, dance, laugh, shake it, express style and flavor!
With these sentiments in mind it is our great honor to announce a night celebration to commemorate Afrolicious going strong for three years every single Thursday night.
